Street Style: Zootz Hair Studio

I saw this lovely girl standing outside the back door of Zootz Hair Studio at 4th and Arbutus yesterday and two thoughts went through my head instantly. First: I want that dress and Secondly: I hope it cost her a pretty penny. No my friends, that dress was $3.99 at Value Village! I want it so bad! It is adorable, and Italian.

The dress is thrifted at Value Village and I am sure that purse sitting at the top of the steps is thrifted too. Please note the amazing hair dye job she is rocking! I sometimes wish I was that fearless with my hair but I have come to the conclusion that I am not.

After approaching her to see if I could get her picture, and asking where did she find this dress, we got into a little chat about thrifting. I had to agree with her on it being mostly about luck, you can go into a place on Monday and find nothing and then Tuesday find 10 things you love and are on sale. It is crazy! Also I think one of my favourite things is to check small town thrift shops when I am anywhere. I have found the best items at the cheapest prices in small towns, its like no one knows what gems they have!

So keep a look out people, you never know when thrift shop gold will fall in your lap.

Dancing, Brunch and a Wolf.

Went dancing at Library Square again last night, what can I say I love the place and the '80's tunes! It was a lot of fun and truly think you should check out, message me and who knows maybe I'll come with you:)

I saw these two girls rocking out on the dance floor and had to get a picture of them. Is that hair band/hair piece not the most amazing thing you have seen all week? Well it gets better, she made it herself! I am super jealous that I can't go out and get the same one. Maybe she'll make me one in hot pinks!

I thought the two of them were super cute and I love that they had the confidence to pull off their own thing. And that is really what fashion is all about.

Here's what I wore:

Dress: Estate Sale $25 (real silk)
Shoes: H&M $40
Earrings: Spring $5
Cuff: Value Village $2
Pose: Just for Matt, who calls it one of my "Tiffanyism"

This morning I met up with a couple of my girls and we had brunch at Joe's Grill on 4th which has just as good food as Sophie's without the line! I had poached eggs, and the works for 6 bucks! I can't wait for next sunday! After bunch it was off to the Kitsilano Farmer's Market which runs every sunday on 10th ave and Larch. It is a great place to get fresh produce, pies, plants, really anything. And not just things that start with a "P". I got BC grown coffee beans, for $10. After the Farmer's Market we head to a local thrift store as I wanted to get a wacky tea cup to use for a plant pot. I ended up with a water jug, with flowers on it. But most important I made friend with this fellow!

Shirt: H&M $15
Belt: Joe Fresh $6
Cuff: Value Village $2
Watch: Yard Sale $1

How awesome is this wolf head? It brings to mind so many questions. Why? Who would buy it? Who bought it the first time? Is it real? They go on and on. Now its home time for so homework and curtain making. Hope you had a great weekend!

xoxo

Nautical Chic

How great does this outfit look? This one of the girls I work with Myra and she looks great in her nautical inspired outfit. So summery and cute with a little bit of rock star in the glasses! Plus the pop of red shoes just brings it all together for me. Nice work!

Hip Hop Night at the Lamplighter

Last night I went to the hip hop night at the Lamplighter with my friend, Ali. A friend of hers was in the group called "Main Offenders". They were really good. I am not a huge hip hop person, its not that I don't like it, its just not my thing. But this guys had great lyrics and that is something I that I can appreciate.

A couple shots of what the crowed looked liked, I stuck out like a sore thumb which I knew I would but it was a great time.

This was the basic uniform of the hip hop crowd. I enjoyed looking at all the crazy patterns on the hoodies. I'm not really a pattern person and I love how easily they all pulled off the patterns.

Here is what I wore. See how I was not dressed for the hip hop crowd. But I didn't care, because you have to dress for yourself and feel good!

Jacket: Le Chateau-gift from grandparents
Shirt: Sirens $15
Jeans: Old Navy $40
Shoes: Aldo $50
Belt: Le Chateau $15
Earrings: Aldo $5
Cuff: Thrifted Value Village $2
Oversized Clutch: Thrifted on Main St $5
Pin on Jacket: Pin for my friend's band

I love this shirt and I can not believe I found something so amazing at SIRENS. I seriously suggest that if you have not been there lately you go and check it out! I also found a cute vest and I think that is more to find. If you live downtown you'll have to go to Metrotown or some other mall out of downtown. It is worth it but I suggest you go on a week day to avoid crowds. Happy Shopping!

Vancouver Fashion Week Opening Party

This Wednesday was the opening party for Vancouver Fashion week at Bar None. It was a great party with even better people watching. I went bringing my man and friend Ali along with me.

Party people shot.

My man and Ali looking sharp in Bar None. Ali is wearing a new top from H&M and jeans from Zara. Not sure about the purse but its nice. My man is wearing a sweater from Banana Republic, a dress shirt from Zara, Quicksilver jeans and a Nikon watch.

I loved how this girl mixed the silver shoes with the blue dress. The one sleeve is so cute. I also love the black tights. It is still very cold in Vancouver and I love this as a way to add some warmth as well as it looks amazing. She simply looks great.

I stopped this girl as this dress is perfect. In fact I wish I had it. She got this dress at Value Village one of those great finds. Turns out she works for The Conveyor Belt which is a great online lifestyle and fashion magazine for Vancouver. I urge you to check it out.

This picture is an example of a women who needs a great going out bag, a clutch or purse of some kind. I saw her a bunch of times through out the night and that was the only thing I notice.

Here's what I wore to the party.

Leather Jacket: Thrifted on Main St $30
Dress: Gift from my man for my birthday
Shoes: Aldo $20
Earrings: Le Chateau $15
Cuff: Thrifted $2
Clutch: Gift from a friend for my birthday last year.
