Yates and Company

Today I started a new job! AND I LOVE IT! I am working at a wholesale fashion company called Yates and Company as a sales rep and social media strategist. I have been trying to make the switch from front of camera to business side of fashion for years. I took an internship with Yates back in April and it paid off. I am now full time Monday to Friday and I couldn't be more excited. I have waited so long for someone to give me a chance and I am so glad they did. Getting dressed this morning I felt like I did for the first day of school.

T-shirt: Forever 21
Vest: Vintage, was my dad's
Jeans: Plenty
Shoes: Zara
Necklace: Sample Sale
Watch: Rolex, c/o Mike
Bracelet: Thrifted

Today I got to work with our designer on samples for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013. My personal experience as a fit model sure came in handy when we were trying on all the samples and making those small changes that make all the difference in fit.

Next up I am art directing a photo shoot for the line we design called Tana + Bee, something I haven't really done before but with my modeling experience I think it should be a blast.

Now I'm off to celebrate this awesome day with a glass of wine!

Missing the Sunshine

This outfit is not from today. Anyone living in Vancouver knows that because there is no sun right now. In fact the last 3 days have basically been October. And yes, it sucks. I want to go back to dressing like this. What do you say Mother Nature, a little sun tomorrow?

Jacket: Vintage
Tank: Dynamite
Skirt: Aritzia
Shoes: Spring
Necklace: Can't remember.
Earrings: Flea Market
Bracelet: Thrifted
Watch: gift

Take Me Out to a Ball Game!

Yesterday was so much fun! Brittany and I joined about 40 other restaurant industry people for a day of baseball and beers. It was a great way to spend a Sunday. Here it is though my iPhone.

This is one of the main reason I love this city. You can meet up with a group of people you don't even know and end up having one of the best random day you've had in a long time. Has that ever happened to you?

5 things to do this weekend!

I am so excited for all this sun that I can't decide which summer activities to do this weekend. Here are 5 ideas.

1) Farmer's Market:

I love farmer's markets. The one in Kits is on Sundays and I love riding my bike over there and filling up my basket with fresh produce for the upcoming week. I'll be there on Sunday for sure. Check out this website for the farmer's market closest to you!

UPDATE: Ending up hitting up the West End farmer's market this morning. So good. Yellow beets, Little Qualicum Cheeseworks cheese, kale and some baby potatoes. Can't wait to make dinner!!

2) Third Beach:

One of Vancouver's best beaches is Third Beach. Grab a friend or two, some eats, and ride your bikes out there for an afternoon of sun and relaxation. You will not be disappointed. I might head out there Saturday afternoon.

3) Gelatio:

I adore Gelatio! True I usually get lemon and raspbery...ok always get lemon and raspberry but you don't have too. With the heat we are going to have this weekend some gelatio is a must! In Vancouver you have tons of different places to choose from and I have never experience on that wasn't good. Maybe this weekend I'll branch out and try a new flavour.....

4) Hit up a Patio:

Anyone who knows me knows I love patios. I will sit on a patio in the middle of winter if there is even the tiniest beam of sunlight on it. So you know I will be heading to a patio at some point this weekend. I have been meaning to go to The Pirate Pub on the seawall under the Burrard St bridge since I moved into my new place a week ago. Its is about 4 mins away. I think this weekend might the weekend.

5) Vancouver Canadians Game:

I can not wait to go to a Vancouver Canadians game. I'm not a huge fan of baseball or watching it on tv but take me out to a ball game!! Who doesn't love sitting in the sun with some friends, having a cold beer and cheering (yelling at) the ball players. I say sign me up!

Bonus if you go on certain nights they have fireworks at the end of the game!

Now go and enjoy this weekend full of sun.

Trying something new.

Every once and awhile a girl has to step out of her style box and try something new. Something she never thought she would try. For me that is the headscarf. It's seem too boho for me. However the other day when I was packing and running errands it seemed the perfect way to keep my hair tamed.

Headscarf: Vintage, used to be my great-grandmother's
Tee: American Apparel
Jeans: Forever 21
Sandals: Payless
Necklace: Sample Sale
Bracelet: Thrifted

So what do you guys think? Did I pull it off or it's it just not me? I think I like it for the summer....if summer ever comes!
