Halloween!

I love Halloween. In fact "I love" doesn't even sound strong enough to explain how much I love it! Some people think its strange since I do not like scary things, not scary movies, not the dark, nothing scary. But I love Halloween. I love dressing up. I love decorating. I love handing out candy. I love everything about it. In fact tonight I might even watch a scary(ish) movie.

So seeing as I love it, this weekend was busy! Friday night my man and I headed over to Granville Island for a Boat Cruise Masquerade! It was hosted by Cody and Tiffany Hind for their birthday. Halloween twins, so cute. It was a lot of fun and I got to wear one of my favourite dresses for it.

Yes, I matched my drink to my outfit!

Dress: Vintage
Mask: Dressew

Saturday night was costume night! I made a bunch of treats and goblin punch and some of our friend's came over for a pre going out get together. I had so much fun making the treats and decorating that I could wait to show everything off to our peeps.

I really show clean up in here...

One of the things I really miss from working in the film industry is the over the top make-up and effects I got to do on a daily basis. Hello, Halloween and a friend who needs to be a zombie for work.

Yeah I did that!

My man and I went as Baywatch! It was a lot of fun and I think the easiest costume I have ever done. A spray tan and some bronzer were all the make-up I needed. A couple props and bam, costume!

Even Rusty got in on the Halloween fun!

And finally today for work I wore some very sparkly eye make-up. At my job I wear an all black outfit; black pencil skirt and today, a black tank top.

Which was inspired by this picture in Kevyn Aucoin's make-up book: Face Forward. I have worn it before and I love the sparkles! So did my friends and customers.

Now I'm of to have a Mexican feast of fish tacos, homemade salsa and guacamole and watch a scary for me movie. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Tall Socks

Saturday was the final game of Kegball of 2009. Kegball is a game my friends and I put on a couple times a summer. It is as it sounds, a keg of beer, always from the local Granville Island brewery, and a game of softball. There are trophies, a bbq and much more fun to be had. This time I wanted to be a bit more "dressed up" and here is the result!

Top, Shorts and Socks: American Apparel, all bought over time
Shoes: Leather Converse Allstars $100

Man, was it a fun outfit and a great game! Till next year, PLAY BALL!

Midnight Show of Priscilla

Last night the Rio Theatre on Broadway had a midnight showing of my favorite movie of all time, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert! SO I got myself dress-up in "drag" and went down to watch. It was amazing as always! Before the movie there was a live drag show and a impressive girl doing burlseque, she made fire in her hand! IT was a great night and the costumes of all the audience was something I wish I had thought to take pictures of!

Here is what I wore:

Wig: Gift from Iain
Dress: Vintage at C'est la Vie on Main St $40
Shoes: Free from a movie I worked on

I had to get a picture with this lovley lady for two reasons, her dress is amazing and my friend, Nick, thought she was hella cute!

I wish there was an event at least once a month for which I could wear a costume!
Love,
Girl

Halloween!

Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year. In fact, it is my favorite day of the year second only to my birthday, making it my favorite day of the year that people who don't know me celebrate as well. This year it was almost a disaster! We were moving on the day and thought that we would be done with tons of time to spare to get ready and head over to Ali's for a party. How wrong we were. We had to stop packing and just go to the party. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

My man and I need easy, middle of moving costumes, so we went as Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's and her gigolo neighbour and true love "Fred". Easy simple costumes but so much fun.

What I discovered while trying to throw my costume together was that I, in fact, did not own a little black dress. I realized that sometimes basics are important and I have to remember that when buying clothes. I have a lot of unique pieces and sometimes nothing to go with them to make outfits due to lack of basics.

A group of my friends came as the Flinestones which was awesome, they even made the large feet. My friend Alex was a gladiator and Ali was from Risky Business(Check out the background)

All in all a great time was had and we eventually finished moving the next day at around 5pm. UGH!

Love,
Girl
