Sparkly

Last weekend I made a trip up to Kelowna to visit my man. He has recently moved there for work. On Monday he went into work and I drove around learning the city. I tried to hit up as many thrift shops as possible. I always find the best things in small city thrift shops. Kelowna was no different. I found this gem of a sparkly dress at a tiny, tiny store hidden off the main streets. It wasn't even on the racks yet, but the sparkle caught my eye from the back storage area and I insisted the let me try it on. One of the ladies working was sure it would not fit. Well it fit like a glove! I had to have it but haggled with them over the price. $10 bucks! I would have to pay atleast $50 for such a find in Vancouver.

Look at the detail on the fabric covered buttons. The only thing is that it is a little see through but at that price I can afford to get a slip for underneath.

So next time you take a trip out of town I suggest popping into any small town thrift shop, you never know what treasures await you. Happy Hunting!

Summer?

I don't know about the rest of you but I am having a hard time dressing for the month of June. Normally it would be warm and sunny but since we are having a Juneary, I have no idea what to wear! Its chilly, windy and grey today, basically its FALL! Where is summer? The problem I am having is do I dress warm and just peel off layers if the sun comes out? This morning I had coffee with my man's sister and both of us are bundled up and cold! Can't wait to get out of town this weekend. Please Mother Nature let it be warm and sunny in Kelowna! I promise not to complain about the rain all day if you just do me this one favour!

Worst of all I am currently writing a final paper on the history of the bikini, right when I can not wear mine. The shame!

Perfect Pants

I may have found the perfect summer pants! These pants were at H&M, organic cotton, marked way down. They had a small mark on them so I asked if it was possible for a futher discount. $20. Not bad. Now the reason the are possibley the perfect summer pants is that I can dress them up or down. Yesterday I wore them during the day in a more professional dressed up way.

Cabin Weekend

This weekend I am headed off on what I hope will be the first of many trips to my man's family cabin on Okanagan lake. I am very excited, to the point that I started packing tonight. Now most people who know me know that I am a notorious over packer. I am determined to pack light! I know this will be hard for me so here is a picture of what I think is all I will need!

Inspired

Yesterday I finally got around to repairing the vintage dress I got about two months ago. Now I had been surfing fashion blogs all morning and I was totally inspired to whip up an awesome outfit. The one problem I sometimes have when getting dressed is that I work at a place that requires me to wear a uniform. So I walk to work, change into my uniform and spend my whole day in all black, therefore there are days where I think why bother for the 20 min walk to work. Yesterday was not one of those days.

I say inspired because once I got this outfit on I realized how Marc Jacobs Spring '09 it is! I love it! What do you think?

BEST! BIRTHDAY GIFT! EVER!!

Alexander McQueen was one of my favourite designers and I was upset over the lose of him and his amazing creations when he passed. It was in fact noticed by a few of my co-workers that in the middle of the olympics I was a bit depressed at work that day. 

For my 29th birthday this year I received the best gift ever from my man! Seriously! I was given the Alexander McQueen Skull Print Scarf, in red! Red being my favourite colour! This gift could not have been more perfect and with better timing! I love it and I want to wear it every single day. Now don't worry I have found my camera and I will get pictures of my beautiful scarf and post them ASAP, but for now here is a few from google.

Boots of Beer

Last night I went to my friend, Appelbe's birthday, he was quickly turning 29 right after I did. I assured him that so far 29 is a great year. We then proceed to have boots of beers. Seriously at Corduroy Lounge on Cornwall in Kitsilano's you can get their house lager in a glass that looks like a boot! I love this place. My other friend, Keith's band, Warless, plays there all the time and everytime I go I am only reminded of how awesome of a hidden gem it is!
