Fast Fashion

I am moving....again. This last few years it seems like I have moved every six months and to my friends, thank you, but this time I have signed a one year lease. Also it is in my favourite part of town to live, and it is beautiful. Small but beautiful. It reminds me of something out of a movie or tv show, mostly out of Breakfast at Tiffany's, it even has a fire escape off the kitchen window. My landlord made sure to tell me, it is for fire escaping only but I plan to sit out there in the summer as the heat starts to cool down and read my newest magazine. Don't tell on me!

So today was all about packing until I had to leave the house then I realized I had to be in front of a class room full of students and I should look presentable. What do you think?

When: Wednesday, January 28th,2010

Where: VCC, Fashion Illustration Class

What: Tee: Dynamite  $20
Jeans: Moto Brand, SAAN $20 (got them five years ago)
Shoes: H&M gift
Chain: From a photoshoot
Cuff: Value Village $2
Watch: Yard Sale $1
Jacket: Set Sale $10
Purse: Thrifted $2

Why: I have to stand in many different poses for the fashion illustration class, so they can sketch the human form, and having jeans on gives me more things to do with my arms. I LOVE these shoes and was just looking for a way to wear them in the day time. Plus when I got home, I lost the chain and the shoes to pack.

I have packed most of my clothes now so I might not post an outfit picture till next week. By then I'll be in my new apartment!

Whistler Day

Last Friday I had the whole day off, now usually on a day off I spend it running around town getting things down. To the point that I can not remember the last time I did nothing on a day off. Last Friday I went up to Whistler and did nothing! It was absolutely fabulous! I had four new magazine with me, glorious sun and a patio to sit on. I finished all four magazine, drank tons of coffee and enjoyed a really good beef dip for lunch. Then around four o'clock I met up with my friend and head back to my life. It was a great mini vacation. I really need to do that more often.

Signature Pose

Last Saturday a bunch of us hit up Karaoke night at Checkers Bar and Grill on Davie, near Denman. It was so much fun that we are planning on doing it again this weekend! I'm telling you grab some friends and head down to sing a song. Trust me, you do not have to be good, just a bit of a ham!

When: Saturday, January 16,2010

Where: Checker's Bar and Grill

What: Dress: H&M $20 (I saw this dress on another blogger and had to have it. I hunted it down at my H&M and now I am in love.)
Tight: The Bay $10
Booties: Aldo $60
Belt: H&M $6
Cuff: Value Village $2
Earrings: Passed down from my grandmother

Why: Before meeting up with my friend's for Karaoke I also met up with an old friend I had not seen in about 12 years. I wanted to wear something I know I am comfortable in, that could easily transfer from dinner to dancing. I think this covers that, especially since the dinner turned out to be a really great date!

Hope all is well in your lives,

xoxo

Global News

Last night I was on the news. Global news did a story on how polite and helpful Vancouverites actually are to tourists. I was walking past the art gallery when I notice a gentlemen with his maps out looking around. Now when I first moved to Vancouver I got lost all the time and if it wasn't for the kindness of others, I would have never found anything. Eight years later, I like to helps other now that I know where everything is. I ask the man if he was looking for something, gave him directions and then was on my way.

6:30pm rolls around and I get a text message from my friend, Shawn. "I saw you on the news, nicely done." Turns out the gentlemen was undercover for Global news and I never guessed.

Check it out at the 22 min mark.

And remember you never know who might need your help next time.

Resolutions?

It is raining in Vancouver today, which is not a surprise, but having today off I haven't felt the need to leave my house yet and have been reading blogs all morning. I wasn't planning on making any resolutions this year as nobody seems to stick to them. I know I don't. I always end up with more of a "To Do" list. However, I am feeling a bit inspired by all the other resolutions I have seen today. So here it goes:

1) Don't buy anything unless I truly LOVE it and it fits my style.
I have bought many things and then gotten them home just to realize that I will never wear it, ever. So its back to the store to return said item and really I just need to not impulse buy the things I do not actually want.

2) Take risks with my clothes.
I see things that I know I love but am scare to buy and wear around Vancouver. This year screw it! I'm wearing it and if the city can't handle it too bad!

3) Use my gym membership.
Hahaha..if this happens I deserve a metal! I HATE the gym but I should take care of myself so there it is.

4) Make my life happen.
...not so much a resolution but more of a motivator!

5) Take a trip that involves a plane and my passport.

6) Take Ballroom lessons.
I have been wanting to do this for years... at least 10 years by my count...and I am officially not waiting for someone to take them with. I'm doing it!

I think 6 is good for now but I am sure the "To Do" list for 2010 will only continue to grow as this year moves forward. Good Luck People!

Single Ladies

I had a great time dancing my ass off on New Years Eve with my friend, Ali at Library Square. Yes, I go there a lot, A LOT! This year Ali and I decided why make huge plans that are going to be a let down and why not just make simple dancing plans. Because let me be honest, there are three things I want to do on New Year's Eve!

1) Wear something awesome..Check! I wore this super short sequined black and gold dress by Ark and Co that very much reminded me of the French Connection dress I saw on Diane Kruger.

2) Dance...check! Danced for hours at Library Square to the best DJ they have had there in the 3 years I have been going there regularly! She should be there at least once a week. The mix of music was everything I wanted and NOTHING I didn't. It was amazing and yes, I told her!

3) Kiss a cute boy at midnight...check! True, I didn't really ask him, I just found one and planted a kiss on him at midnight. And that was all I wanted from him so it was back to dancing.

But there were other awesome things about not having high expectations for the night, I had a lot of fun! I wasn't thinking how it could be a let down and at about 1am we head over to the Winking Judge Pub for one last beer(that I did not need) and this photo shoot happened! Then it was off to bed. I think next year I am going to go low expectation again because it was so much more than I wanted!
