Store of the Week: Queensbury Flower Company

Store of the Week: Queensbury Flower Company

Last week's opening of Queensbury Flower Company, Your Urban Flower Kiosk in the Granville Skytrain station was a success. It is the most beautiful kiosk I have ever seen, including in Europe. I just love it. It is a red and black and beautiful. True, red is my favourite colour but that is not why I have chosen them as store of the week. I picked them because the flowers are perfect but not expensive! Most importantly they last! I have had my flowers for a week and they look like I just picked them up.

Store owner Kanako knows her stuff and that always makes for a store I want to visit over and over again. She is friendly and loves flowers. I have an engagement party to attend next Sunday and I know that I'll be getting some flowers from Queensbury before I head to the party.
Also if you don't see the combo of flowers you are looking for ask the people working as I am sure they can make a few small changes for you or you can make one with the loose roses they sell. Prices are different depending on what you get but I got a small bouquet for ten dollars, and it was so beautiful. I have enjoyed looking at it all week.

So head down to Queensbury Flower Company at Granville Station and check out the amazing flowers for yourself. Over the next years expect to see more of these wonderful kiosk around town, I have a feeling business will be blooming for this young entrepreneur.

"The Bohemia Gallery"

STORE OF THE WEEK:

One of the amazing finds I scored on Sunday at the Main St Car Free Day was a red vintage dress from Bohemia Gallery. This store is amazing! Its two stories of vintage gems, and one section upstairs is a new designer who sells from this space. The store is run by a mother and daughter team who I found easy to shop from. They were very helpful, fun and nice. I found the downstairs to be super crowded as it was on Car Free Day but not a lot of people had ventured upstairs, where there were even more amazing gems to be found. The prices all varied but I thought they were in a good range for the quality and styles. There was also a large shoes section and a counter of jewellery. They take cash , debit, visa, the works! I tried on quite few items but not a lot fit me, as its vintage and there is only one of each item.

Then I found my new favorite dress, my Ladybug Dress! It is beautiful, and in my favorite color, so I had to have it. I wore it yesterday to work and then to school after work. A guy at my work said I looked like a ladybug and as I love ladybugs I have named the dress after them. Plus he is right it does kind of look like a ladybug. It is so fun, and a good way to get some of the new big shoulder trend without going over the top and out of my style realm.

Dress: Vintage $20 at Bohemia Gallery
Belt: H&M $15
Shoes: Aldo $60
Purse: Vintage, a gift that a friend also found on Main St one Christmas.
Earrings: Gift from my grandmother
Cuff: Value Village $2
Watch: Yard Sale $1

See the resemblance?

Not only did I find this amazing dress, but I also score a great hot pink bolero jacket that I have yet to wear. My friend, Ali found two great dresses, and my friend, Jen score a perfect hairband. That fact that all three of us has different body types and could all find something we loved makes this store my store of the week.

I seriously suggest you check out The Bohemia Gallery, not only were there amazing pieces to be found but the ladies who run it are so nice and helpful. Take your time and browse the whole place as you never know where your next favorite piece could be hiding. I know I'll be back!

Store of the Week: Superstore

I know you have read the name of the store for this week and are thinking "is this for real? Superstore?" Well yes its for real. If you've never heard of JOE clothing you need to head over to your local Superstore and see if they have one of the big JOE sections. When I was in Vernon with my man I hit up the Superstore and it had a huge JOE section, where I was shocked by how much cute stuff there was for such great prices! I had a shopping cart full of things to try on. I could have easily walked out of there with a couple hundred dollars worth of cute dresses, hat, shoes, belts, tops, and so much more. Lucky I had already set myself a limit of $50 dollars. Still I got a cute dress, a mini skirt, a skinny belt and sunhat for $50 dollars.

This dress was only $29.99, it fits great, has pockets(which I am a sucker for) and fabric covered buttons. There was quite a few cute dress, some more summer beach party but also a lot of office appropriate dress that were not boring.

This mini skirt was too cute to pass up. It too has pockets and great details that make it seem like it should have cost more than $24.00 dollars. There is even a lining in it. I can't wait to wear it with a white tank top and gladiator sandals.

This skinny belt was $6.00 same with this great sun goddess hat. This hat with be going to the beach with my ever day this summer. You have to protect that delicate face skin from those UV rays might as well look good doing it.

There was so much more to choose from and I will definitely be heading back for some more delightful day dresses. But the joys of Superstore don't stop there. If you need some other summer basics before you hit the beach there is sunscreen, beach towels, lawn chairs and why not get yourself a Bocce set to challenge those boys to a game with? Superstore has it all. You can even get the making for a picnic and be off to the beach or your favorite destination all in one stop. So I say give it a chance, you might not agree with me but I am not the only fashionista I know who rides the skytrain out to one of the Superstore just outside downtown to check out the cute frugal finds at Superstore.
