Work Outfits: Intern/Sample Sale

Tuesday and Wednesday used to be my days off but I am now spending them interning at Yates & Co at the Fashion Exchange building or the FX building for those in the know:) So Tuesday I rode my bike over to the FX building to help out in anyway I can. Here is what I wore:

Jeans: Plenty

Necklace: Spring
Watch: Rolex, gift from Mike
Earrings: gift from aunt & uncle

I learned this DIY from I Spy DIY. I saw it in an issue of Instyle and had to try it. I love basics with a twist and who doesn't love a little surprise when you turn around! It was super easy to do and you should try it.

Then today I was helping out at the Warehouse sale that Yates & Co are having with the Dakota Group on West 7th. Please stop by if you haven't already. I was there all day and let me tell you there is a ton of great stuff. I think I might go back on Friday to pick up a red dress I had my eye on. Fingers crossed it is still there!! Here is what I wore:

I wore the above outfit to work and when I got there I was asked to change into a Tana and Bee top which is the in house line that Tony of Yates & Co designs. It is a great way for the customer to see the line on people so all of us wore different tops. I love the one that I got to wear. I might grab it if no one else does.

Hawaii

Mike and I got home from Hawaii this past weekend. We were gone for a week and I won't lie, I DID NOT want to come home. I wanted to stay and surf, hike, snorkel, sail, and eat my life away. Of course, like all vacations, I had to return to reality. We had an amazing time and I would return in a heartbeat. Here is a few of my favourite pictures from the trip.

Dakota Group Sample Sale

Hi everybody! I'm back from Hawaii and so refreshed! If you haven't been you must go! I will be post a few pictures from my trip tonight but this morning I want all of you to know about this. 

The Dakota Group sample sale officially starts tomorrow but today is VIP friends and family! That means anyone who reads my blog is invited to come shop today with me. BEFORE EVERYTHING IS PICKED OVER!!! I will be there from 9:30 to 5:00 so if you do pop by make sure to say hi. I love meeting readers!!

Packing and Planning

This week has been crazy busy. On top of my full time job I started an internship for a wholesale fashion company. For two days a week for the next three months I will be doing whatever they need me to. This week I was helping out with a sample sale which was a lot of fun. BUT.....before all this interning can happen I am off to HAWAII with my man. A whole week of sun and relaxation. I am so excited and I can't wait to get there and just feel the heat. Tonight I am packing, which I weirdly love to do, and watching the Canucks start the playoffs. Here is an idea of what I will be taking with me.

Spring Wants

This happens to me ever season! The weather starts to change and I want to refresh my wardrobe choices. This Spring I am craving some very classic pieces to mix with my more wild pieces. Here are my Spring wants.

I have a great trench in black but I really need a spring trench. A nice classic beige would be perfect.

I love Converse sneakers. In fact they are pretty much the only sneakers I will wear. I am craving a pair of new low tops. My pair is done, worn to pieces. I'm thinking white or cream for this spring.

I need to replace my aviators. I kill sunglasses so I just buy a cheap $20 pair every summer and hope they make it the end. Lets face it, they probably won't.

Every year I say I'm going to buy a pair of white skinnys. It never happens. This year is the year....I think.

Of course no wardrobe refresh is complete with out something crazy so I am thinking so hot pink, not sure what but something hot pink is the ticket! 

What's on your Spring wishlist?

To in-vest or not to in-vest?

I never thought this day would come but I think I want a vest. I have pretty much hated puffy vests since the moment I moved to Vancouver and saw people wearing the black North Face puffy vest EVERYWHERE! Recently however I have been thinking it might be something I would be into. Not a North Face vest, and not in black. Both something that I can throw over on a sweater and skinny jeans for walking the dog on the weekend, or hitting up the farmer's market, or riding my new bike, things like that.

And after I saw Christine of My Style Pill working this one from J.Crew. I knew I actually wanted...no needed one!!

Birthday Swagger

Last Wednesday was my birthday so this Saturday was my birthday party! Had a bunch of friends over for some drinks and munchies. I love to entertain so I made what my friend called a snack map! I had a piece of construction paper on our table as a table mat and wrote down what the food was with sharpie. Unfortunately I did not get a picture. I was too busy working the room. Here are some snapshots from my birthday week.

This birthday was a ton of fun and I really enjoyed having people over instead of going out. We got to have ACTUAL conversations with each other. Imagine that! And I want to give a big shout out to my awesome neighbours for letting us go till 6 in the morning with some music and not getting mad. I owe you a bottle of wine!

Have I mentioned I love stripes??

I'm sure I have and if you have been following along for the last few years you probably figured it out on your own....I LOVE STRIPES! To the point where I have worn them without thinking 5 days in a row. I know I need to branch out, but my love for stripes probably won't change.

PS can we talk about these tights? They are awesome. Another thing I love is polka dots! These tights make me feel like a '40s pin up. I know the rest of my out doesn't scream PIN UP but I love that style and I like to throw a little bit of that feeling in to the mix. Side note: look a post tomorrow about my awesome birthday weekend!!
