Friday Night Drinks

Every Friday after work a "gang" of us commandeer a table and have food and drinks. It started about a month ago and has turned into a little ritual that I really look forward too. Its a great way to end off the week. I like to dress well on the way to and from work anyways but now on Fridays I up the game a little as you never know where the night will take you...even though it usually take me dancing! Here is what I wore this Friday:

Cardigan: GAP $50 (the only thing I have ever bought at the GAP)
Blouse: H&M $15
Pants: H&M $10
Shoes: Army&Navy $10
Belt: H&M $15
Purse: Vintage Gift from my friend, Dusty
Earrings: Le Chateau $10
Ever Present Ipod Touch: Christmas Gift from my friend, Justin

Photos taken out in the back alley behind my work! Glam and Grunge!

What a ritual you look forward too?

Puddle Jumping

The rain has return to the city of Vancouver and oddly enough I am loving it! A little bit of cooler weather is fine by me. Yes, I would love to spend Saturday laying around at the beach but I also love layers and fall fashion. I have made my first fall purchase and I was excited to see rain as it is a pair of Hunter rainboots! I have wanted them for 3 years and so how always talk myself out of them so I finally bit the bullet and bought them. They are slightly pricey but the cost per wear in this city is pennies!

Hat: Gift from my friend's John (RIP)
Jacket: From Hong Kong $20
Sweater: Le Chateau (got it in high school) $20
Jeans: Zara $50
Rainboots: Hunter at Gravity Pope $150
Scarf: Le Chateau $20

See puddle jumping make me happy!!

Pride Parade

Last Sunday I spent the day on a patio watching the Vancouver Pride Parade! I love this parade, it is in fact one of my favorite days of the year! I gather up a group and camped out at the Cactus Club on Robson, with some food and beers, yes I know it should have been martinis or bellinis but its a marathon of a day!
Ali rocking the Pride! Jen and Serg all glammed up for the occasion! Can you believe she got that dress at the Quick Nickel at Davie and Denman? After the parade we all went into the GAP dress up, you should have seen some of the looks. It was awesome!

Christian and I in our Pride gear, I had to support all my "fairy" friends with the wings! It is such a fun day, and how often in the summer is it totally normal to walk all around downtown with wings and a tutu on? We went for sushi on Davie and the vibe was so FRIENDLY. I wish all of Vancouver could keep that vibe for whole year!

Kitsilano Farmer's Market

Today I rode my bike to the Kitsilano Farmer's Market to do my shopping for the upcoming week. I love going to markets of any kind and this one is great. Tons of fresh produce, organic coffee to start you off, and much more to enjoy.

Some of the high lights of my adventure this morning were the bike valet, it is by donation and I love the fact that I am valeting my bike! There is also a by donation bike tune up station put on by the UBC Bike Co-op, I learned my bike needs some repairs so I will be taking her in for a real tune up next weekend.

I really enjoyed tasting all the different cheese at the Little Qualicum Cheeseworks booth. I grow up in Qualicum Beach and I love supporting local products. I bought a block of the Rathtrevor Cheese, named after the provincial park in Parksville.

I got some local honey, made from the pollen off blueberry flowers, it taste like summer! I also enjoyed some candied ginger and fruit jellies from Bad Girl Chocolates. Very tasty!
It was a great start to a wonderful Sunday, now I am off to the beach!!

Bootie Love

I fell in love with these Steve Madden booties when I saw them in the July issue of Marie Claire and I knew I had to have then for fall. I am still waiting for them to come into stores but image the possibilities! I will wear them with everything from fancy cocktail dresses, to skinny jeans and a leather jacket. Oh, I love summer but fashion in fall is the best!

Rain Wear

Here is a typical rainy day outfit for me. Usually consistent of these items, skinny jeans tucked into my favorite brown boots, with my vintage newsboy cap. From there I mix up the details but this outfit is comfortable and warm, perfect for a rainy Vancouver afternoon. What is your go to rainy day look?

Pin-Up Sweater

I was hunting for a good short sleeved sweater when I stumbled across this cream one at H&M. It was $40 dollars and I just couldn't bring myself to pay that much for it. I really liked it but I was unsure. Then a couple weeks ago I was in there to meet a friend when I spot my little sweater with a $10 tag on it, and in my sized. I scooped it up and happily gave the cashier my $10 bucks! I think I'm in love!

Sweater: H&M $10
Blouse: H&M $15
Jeans: Zara $50
Shoes: Aldo $80
Earrings: Gift from Jen
Cuff: Value Village $2
Watch: Yard Sale $1

"Easy Virtue"

I just got home from watching the movie "Easy Virtue". I wasn't expecting much from the movie seeing as I hadn't heard anything about it, but I really enjoyed it. It is set in the late 20's and the whole movie takes place on an estate in England. The best part, by far, was the amazing costumes. I want Jessica Biel's entire wardrobe for the fall. I fell in love with her high waisted wide leg trouser, and I am going to need a pair for fall. I would see this movie again just for the outfits!

And if I knew anyone who was getting married I would try to talk them into wearing a dress like one of theses. They are beautiful! I am going to be bringing this decade to life in the fall!

I think this outfit was my favorite of all. I am going to be hunting for these pieces all summer.

So far on my fall wish list: these pants, a great blouse, and some studded ankle boots.

Have you started yours?
