Riding in heels

I decided to try riding my bike to work in heels today. It can be done, but I 'm thinking it is better not too. I'm going to stick with my first plan of getting a pair of flats that will be my biking shoes then change into heels when I need to. This only suck because of my LOVE for heels, but something its function over fashion.(Very Rare)

Jacket: Old Navy
Hoodie: Spiwack
Shirt: Dynamite
Jeans: Rewind Denim
Boots: Aldo
Earring: Le Chateau
Cuff: Value Village
Necklace: Claire's

I felt like rocking some lipstick today but wanted a change from my MAC Russian Red lips. So I am wearing a burgandy color from Maybelling called Wine. I really like it, its make me feel very vampish.

Work Perks

I admit that I do love my job, there I days I only really like my job but most days I love it. One of the things I love is the perks and the way they treat they employees. Last Sunday was one of our staff meetings. At this staff meeting they handed out thank you cards, or appreciation awards. Inside this cards were gift card to Aldo for $50 dollars. Well I LOVE shoes so to me this was a great way to say thank you. Below are the shoes I bought with my gift card. I have to put in a little of my own money but it was totally worth it. And I do feel totally appreciated for everything I do at work day in and out.

I'm looking forward to wearing this straight from the beach to the dance floor.

These are incredibly comfortable. I have worn them to work twice this week and they were great. Plus I always love a great pair of pumps!

Rocking the Transformers

Just wanted something fun to wear today. Definitely achieved that. In fact I like this look so much I'm not even going to change before going out tonight. I thrifted this shirt at Value Village just before the movie came out. It was a men's XL so I alter it. Taking in the side seams, and cutting the neckline. Then I wore it to an advance screening out the movie. It was awesome!

Shirt: Thrifted and alter by me. $2
Skirt: Dynamite $30
Tights: American Apparel $16
Shoes: Thrifted $1
Scarf: Le Chateau $15

Spring Has Sprung

The weather in Vancouver might not be great at the moment at least we are getting some more sunshine. It is still very cold but I am just trying to remember the saying "April showers bring May flowers". And not just outside as I decided to bring some flowers to my outfit when shift leading at work today.
Shirt: Zara $50
Shirt: Thrifted at Value Village $3
Shoes: Aldo $10 (at a buy one get one free sale!)
Necklaces: Thifted at True Value Vintage and at Mintage $10 for both.(you can only see one)
Cuff: Thrifted at Value Village $2
Earrings: Le Chateau $10

All the magazine I have been reading and all over the spring shows were flowers. I realize that floral prints are in style every spring but a lot of times I bypass the florals as I feel it makes me look to young. This year a lot of the florals were subtle and not overwhelming. I will be trying to find some more subtle ways to include more floral in my wardrobe. Plus if the weather wont let it be spring I will make it be spring with my clothes alone!

Speaking of spring, I have decided to do spring cleaning on my body. This is the bike I bought at a second hand sports store over the weekend. I have been riding it to work every day since. Its not a far ride but it is all up hill! I just switch my skirt for jeans and my heels for ballet flats.
Bicycle: Cheapskates at Dunbar and 19th $175
Basket: Cheapskates $25
Bell: Cheapskates $3
Lock: Cheapskates $30
Cheapskates is a great place to get a bike. Everything is on consignment and the prices get lower the longer something has been there. Also the guys who work there will install everything you want to add to your bike for you, for FREE! So awesome! I am definitely looking forward to riding around the seawall this summer. Here's to spring, CHEERS!

Weekend Warrior

This weekend my Man's parents stayed with us so there was a lot of activities. On Saturday we went to a car show at BC Place. It was the show of all the '08 models of all the different manufacturers. I had never been to a new car show, only show with the vintage models. It was interesting to see a different kind of car show. I grabbed a shot of my outfit at the show for a different background than my bedroom door.

Jacket: Le Chateau, gift from grandparent a few Christmases ago
Shirt:American Apparal V-neck $15
Jeans: Rewind Denim $40
Boots: B2 Christmas gift
Scarf: Thrifted on Main St
Bag: Aldo

Here is my man's outfit from the car show. I must say I am loving the new shoes he got for himself.
Sweater: Banana Republic
Polo: Volcom
Jeans: Quicksilver
Shoes: Zara Mens
In the background is my Man's father and brother. As you can tell brown is a very liked color with this group:)

On Sunday I had a staff meeting at 9am so I dressed quietly with clothes I had picked out the night before. My man's parents were sleeping in our bedroom. I normally can not pick out an outfit the night before but I think I did okay.

Jacket: from a set sale
Sweatshirt: Gentle Fawn $30
Shirt: American Apparall $15
Jeans: Rewind Denim
Boots: B2 Christmas gift
Scarf: Thrifted on Main St

I would like to note that this picture of taken after my Man and I rode the bikes we had just bought home in the rain! I was not prepared for the weather but it was fun and I scored the best bike ever!!!!

Quicksilver Fashion Show at BC Fashion Week, Fall '08

This Friday I got to attend the Quicksilver Fashion Show at BC Fashion week, Fall '08. I thought the show was really well produced. The clothes were not something I personally would wear but it was still a great show. The clothes to me felt like a mix of today's scencester look with the '90s grunge look that Kurt Cobain made so popular.

I was sitting on the side and it was really hard to get a good picture. Also no flash was allowed so here are two of the best.

I love getting ready for fashion show. You can basically get away with wearing anything to a show! I wore this vintage skirt that I got from my friend Taryn's sister for free, one of my best finds ever wasn't even found by me. She found it at a Value Village here in Vancouver.

Jacket: Le Chateau $30
Shirt: Zara $50
Skirt: Thrifted at Value Village FREE
Shoes: Aldo Outlet $20
Purse: Thrifted $3
Earring: Spring $7
Cuff: Thrifted at Value Village $2

I also were the brooch my friend, Taryn and her man, gave me for my birthday in my hair. I really wanted to wear it and it was the best place for it. After the fashion show my friend, Katie and I headed over to Six Acres for a drink and some appies. This place it great, if you are in Gastown you should definitely check it out. Six Acres is on the corner of Water St and Carrall. This was followed with meeting up with my Man and his friend for a quick beer then I headed home for some much needed sleep. All in all a great night!

Yesterday was April Fool's and I sure hope everyone pulled a few pranks to satisfy that child inside. I know I did! Other than that it was off to work as usual. After work I went on the hunt for a cheap full length mirror. I can not find one anywhere, if anyone has an idea of where to look, please let me know.

Birthday Outfits Part 2

Saturday night was my big birthday party. I had this outfit planned out way in advance....then it snowed! Well I still wore the sane outfit, it just meant we had to cab the 6 blocks to the party rather than walk like normal. It was a great party. Everything I wanted it to be and more. One this that might have been better is if I had taken any pictures! Thankfully my friends did, this was the best picture I could find out my outfit.

Dress: Winners $30
Cuff: Value Village $2
Earrings: Le Chateau $10
Pendent: Gift from Katie and Dusty, it has a female bowler on it!

I was wearing really high gold platforms that I got at Aldo for $17 but I can not find a single picture where you can see them. Later in the night I change into my red flats so I could continue to dance. Which I did till four in the morning. Best birthday ever!

My friends brought me a cake, which was delicious!

Then at the end of the night me and my man went home, along with 3 friends who had to crash on our sofas! I had the most amazing time!! Thanks Everybody!
