On Tuesday it was pouring buckets outside so I decided to use my day off to take care of a DIY I had been meaning to do for months!

I saw this awesome t-shirt in the September issue of Marie Claire and wanted it instantly until I saw it was by Givenchy and cost $265.

So I set out to find something similar. What I found was an XL men's shirt from Community Vinatage for $10 bucks. Only problem I am not an XL man. So it has been sitting in my drawer waiting for me to tailor it. Lucky for me I came across the perfect DIY on Pinterest. (You should totally follow me by the way)

It didn't take a lot of time or a lot of skill and now I can wear my giant shirt and look cute not sloppy.

I have the day off today and it is great. I went out to Burnaby for lunch with my friend, Cam to celebrate my promotion at work so I decided to wear my accordion pleated skirt. I love it. Girlie but comfortable and dressed down makes for a perfect day off outfit.

Chicken and waffles, Beads and Mussels

Wednesday has become my Sunday an this Wednesday was awesome. I used the left over fried chicken from Chewies the night before to make chicken and waffles at home. Yum yum!

It was delicious. Not as good as the one at Two Chefs and a Table, which are my all time favourite, but good for at home.

After breakfast I took the puggle a walk in the sunshine and headed over to the Douglas Trading Post to look for beads and DIY supplies.

I had never been there before and man, the have a ton of beads. And everything was so cheap! I think I spent about an hour just looking at all the beads. Then I made these.

I also attempted to make a bracelet but it didn't work out the way I was hoping so I'm going to have to try again.

To top it all off we had our friend, Aimie over for dinner and my man made the most fabulous mussels!

I made us some sundaes for dessert. I found the idea for them on the blog Beautiful Mess. So good!

Ice Skating, Poutine and Southern Food

This Tuesday my man and I had the day off together and it was fantastic! Since I got my new position we no longer have weekends off together so it was great to spend the day with him.

First we went ice skating at the Robson rink. Something I have been trying to get to all winter. I'm not a huge fan of the cold so when it is here I try to do all the fun things while I wait for the sun to come back.

For those of you who don't know the Robson rink is under Robson street and I think it is one of Vancouver's hidden gems. Fully underrated. If you have your own skates it is free and they had a concession stand where you can grab some eats or a hot chocolate.

After skating we headed over to The Local for a couple beers and some poutine. I adore poutine! I could eat it everyday...if it wasn't bad for me.

Then for dinner we headed over to Chewies which is a new oyster bar with southern food. So good! If you haven't been there go, now! Tell them I sent you. We had the crab cakes, a couple oysters, BBQ prawns with cheesy grits, an fried chicken. I love fried chicken and waffles which they have on their brunch menu. I'll be back for that.

Then it was home to bed. All in all a great day!

Leopard and Red Hearts.

Yesterday for work I pulled out one of my favourite vintage dresses. I found this amazing leopard peplum dress at a vintage sale at Erin Templeton's store for $10 bucks. At the time I had no idea where or when I would wear it but I knew I had to have it.

Well I have worn it a ton of times. A few times to work, on a few dates and if the right friend was getting married I would wear it to a wedding.

Yesterday I paired it with a red leather belt that has a heart shaped buckle that I got at a thrift store a few years back. Not even sure which one any more...but I do remember how excited I was to score such a fun belt.

Pizza party!

Last night my man and I had our first official dinner party in our new place. So much fun. Finally got to use our stainless steel banquet table that has been hanging on our wall for about a month now. Let me tell you it is HEAVY!!

Isn't it beautiful? My man though it up and it works as a piece of art and a great way to entertain. I love to entertain. I love getting the stuff, making food and appies, I love people coming over, talking, drinking wine. Everything!

Last night I made pizzas! One BBQ chicken and one shrimp and artichoke. They were awesome!

After a great meal filled with great conversions and lots of laughter it was time for the men to put the table back up on the wall. That was entertaining.

Followed by some more conversation and some after food napping.

And then it was off to sleep. Ahhh such a successful night and a great way to finish off my weekend.

Mani/Pedi

I got a gift certificate for a mani/pedi at Pure Nail Bar from my man's parents for Christmas which I decided to use today. I am well known for waiting to use gift certificates until they are about to expire. I figured with New Year's Eve this weekend I would just go for it. Why wait? Plus I needed it. I manage a restaurant and that will wreak your feet no matter who you are.

And my fingers are so sparkly, which is of course awesome. Who doesn't want sparkly fingers for texting and typing!

One of the best things about Pure Nail Bar is how fast it is. One thing I hate sitting still!

Christmas

I had an amazing Christmas. Mostly just hanging out and chilling with my man at home, and dinner with his family. It was so relaxing and I got spoiled! My man got my an iPhone and a new watch which I haven't stopped wearing since I opened it.

Hope everyone got just as spoiled! Now I'm off to get a mani/pedi using the gift certificate that my man's parents got for me!!

My man and I have moved! It is amazing being in a place of your own. It is so much bigger and brighter than our last place. We are in the middle of decorating and rearranging it to fit us. I am in love! Also it means I'm back.

I am in love with these shoes! They are like disco balls for my feet. I wore this outfit at work with black pumps but after an 8 hour shift the last thing I want to do is walk home in my heels. I slip this babies on and I feel great!

I am getting so excited! My man and I are moving into our new place next Monday and I can not wait!! After my man drew up a to scale floor plan, we figured out where our stuff is going and what else we need. Well this weekend we got a few of the new pieces and I am like a kid on Christmas Eve I just want to put everything together and use it!

On top of that I am getting so excited for the Christmas Season! Ice skating on Robson Rink, Hot Chocolate, Christmas lights and finally, this is the year I ride the Stanley Park Christmas Train! I can not believe it has taken me TEN years to make it happen. This year I am buy tickets in advance and getting there early. Not taking any chances!

This weekend my man and I headed out of town for a little r&r. It was fabulous. I basically ate my way through the weekend and loved every minute of it! I didn't take any pictures but my man's cousin got this shot of me. What do you think?

We had a great time! My man made a fabulous pasta for dinner Friday night, and Saturday night he made AMAZING steaks! Saturday day the boys did what they find relaxing:

While I did what I find relaxing, I sat in a cafe drinking coffee and reading the newest Vogue. It was a totally fair trade. We then headed into Pemberton and had lunch at The Pony. Seriously if you are in Pemberton go there! I had such good food I want to go there for lunch today! Sunday we went for two very long walks with the puggle and then had nachos on a patio in the village. It was such a good way to relax after the crazy that is the month of October. Weirdly November is shaping up to be just as busy. Oh well.

Halloween!

I love Halloween. In fact "I love" doesn't even sound strong enough to explain how much I love it! Some people think its strange since I do not like scary things, not scary movies, not the dark, nothing scary. But I love Halloween. I love dressing up. I love decorating. I love handing out candy. I love everything about it. In fact tonight I might even watch a scary(ish) movie.

So seeing as I love it, this weekend was busy! Friday night my man and I headed over to Granville Island for a Boat Cruise Masquerade! It was hosted by Cody and Tiffany Hind for their birthday. Halloween twins, so cute. It was a lot of fun and I got to wear one of my favourite dresses for it.

One of the things I really miss from working in the film industry is the over the top make-up and effects I got to do on a daily basis. Hello, Halloween and a friend who needs to be a zombie for work.

Yeah I did that!

My man and I went as Baywatch! It was a lot of fun and I think the easiest costume I have ever done. A spray tan and some bronzer were all the make-up I needed. A couple props and bam, costume!

Even Rusty got in on the Halloween fun!

And finally today for work I wore some very sparkly eye make-up. At my job I wear an all black outfit; black pencil skirt and today, a black tank top.

Which was inspired by this picture in Kevyn Aucoin's make-up book: Face Forward. I have worn it before and I love the sparkles! So did my friends and customers.

Now I'm of to have a Mexican feast of fish tacos, homemade salsa and guacamole and watch a scary for me movie. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Patterns and Puppies

Rusty!

Today was beautiful! A perfect sun filled brisk fall day. The kind that make you want to go for a walk with a friend and drink warm drinks. So that is exactly what I did after work. A girl friend of mine lives close by in Yaletown so after the two of us got off work we went and grab our puppies and headed over to the Yaletown dog park with stream hot coffees in hand. It was great. Blue sky, green grass, tons of orange leaves on the ground and a ton of puppies running their fool heads off (ps to me all dogs are puppies...) And here is what I wore today:

Don't you love these boots? I got them this weekend at this crazy one off shop on Hastings St beside Army and Navy called Model Express. From the outside it looks a bit....shady but it was great! The boots were only $70 bucks and I love them. I can't wait to wear them with everything I own. I already wore them out dancing on Saturday and they are perfect. Comfortable and sexy, not a bad combo if I don't say so myself.

Flare at The Bay

On Friday FLARE came to The Bay. It was perfect. Editor-in-Chief Lisa Tant and Suzanne Timmins, The Bay's fashion director gave a fall fashion trend report complete with fashion show. We all received FLARE's fall fashion trends runway guide and the newest issue of FLARE.

Food and wine was supplied by Handsworth, a restaurant located in the Georgia Hotel. The mini hor d'oeuvres that I had were fantastic. It combined my favourite things food and fashion together.

While watching the fashion show I notice this lady who was directing the models, and who I soon realized was Suzanne's assistant, off to the side and I love her outfit. It is a total "me" outfit. After the show I had to approach her and ask where she had gotten the hot pink blazer, expecting to hear a fashion line I could not afford. Her answer, "Zara". I can't wait to get one for myself.

I also got the pleasure of meeting both Lisa and Suzanne. Lisa made my night! As I approched her to say thank you, said "Your outfit is fabulous". Thank you Lisa! The only problem was I totally forgot to get a picture of myself. I was wearing my favourite vintage yellow silk t-shirt, with a pair of high waisted black trouser and my grey mini layered vintage necklace. I really must remember to get shoots of myself.

Going to these events just makes me realize how much I love fashion and having personal style. Can't wait for the next one!

Meeting Jeanne...again

I love Jeanne Beker so when I received an email that she would be at the Bay again I jump at the chance to go see her. She is wonderful. So grounded and down to earth. Listening to her talk about the fashion industry is fun and inspiring. She also showed off the new pieces of her line, Edit, which is really a well edited collection of pieces for the busy working women who needs comfort and style all in one.

I love this look. Simple yet dramatic.

One thing that Jeanne said that really stuck out to me was how fashion is what we are given, style is what we choose. Sometimes writing this blog, reading all the other blogs, trying to keep up with the magazines and show I forget that I don't have to wear it all. I can pick and choose and skip things that I don't really love or that don't suit me. I love my legs and I tried to buy a pair of wide leg trouser jeans just to return them two days later knowing that I would never wear them. When I asked Jeanne about personal style she said she loves her legs so always wears a legging, skinny jeans or tights and dresses. I want to be like THANK YOU for reminding me.

When I finally got to the front and got my chance to meet Jeanne(again) I was stunned when she said "You know, you ask great question."! Coming from the interviewer herself I was over joyed! It only made my confidence soar and inspire me to want to ask more people more questions.

All in all meeting Jeanne was a great experience and I can't wait for her to come back again. You know I'll be there front row with a tons of new questions.

Sunday Stroll

I love walking our puggle, Rusty, especially in the sun. Yesterday morning my man headed over to North Vancouver to run a 5km charity race so it was just Rusty and I on the sunny seawall. We had a nice walk in the brisk Autumn air that was just warm enough for me to wear this.

I have been wearing my hair in beach waves forever and this tutorial from B.Jones Style is the way I have been doing them recently. Super easy! It took me about to 2 times of doing it this way before I could do all of my hair in about 7 mins. I think you should try it! Now I am off to find the perfect pumkin.

After a fun and food filled Thanksgiving weekend it was back to work as usually yesterday. I have recently taken on some managing shifts at my job and this is what I wore to work and worked in all day. Normally I get to work and changing to my uniform of all black so when ever I manage I use that opportunity to wear some colour!

I love this kelly green dress that I bought at Zara earlier this year. It was a spur of the moment buy that turned out to be quite smart. I love Zara, and their dresses top my want list whenever I am in the store. Most of the time I can find a great dress for about $60 buck and I always get comments on them. Where is your go-to dress shop?

Eco Fashion Week. Day 1.

Exciting things are happening in my life at the moment. I am covering EFW for local website, The Vantage! Very exciting! They are short on a fashion expert and I am helping them out. So here is what I wore to the VIP/Media event on Wednesday night:

This photo was snap by Frock of Ages as Myles, The Vantage, and I first arrived at Storyuem for the Media open. What a great venue for this type of event. There were stalls set up with vendors ranging from vintage clothing, to new eco friendly clothing, to eco make-up and even some food stalls. You know I love any event that brings together my two loves, food and fashion. Yesterday was the first day of shows and my first time ever interviewing a designer. You would think I would be totally cool with it as I talk to people all day long in my job and have worked with designers for years as a model and fit model but no, I was nervous! Luckily it went perfect. Here is what I wore for day 1:

Before we go any further I have to give a shout out to the lady at The Fair. I had had my eye on this cocoon cape for over a month but trying to be practical never bought it. Well when the opportunity to write for The Vantage and cover fashion week came up I knew I needed it. She came in early and meet me at her store so I could pick it up before work. The store is amazing with both new and vintage pieces. Plus that is some serious customer service. Definitely check them out, I knew you'll find something you love.

Working in the film industry in Vancouver can be so much fun, it can also be outside in the rain for hours on end. I would know I worked in it for 4 years as a make-up artist and hair assistant. During that time I used a lot of make-up on a lot of different faces. Now that I am living in the real world and my morning are fairly busy I have my make-up routine pretty much down. I have a basic face that take me about 7 mins and if I want to pump it up I have a few go to options that I can whip up in about 10 mins. (I have A LOT of practice) One morning I will have to slow it down and take some picture of the step it takes to pull off the basic face, for now here are the products I love.

Make-up ALWAYS looks better on a well moisturized face. I love this one because it sinks right in and has an SPF, very important everyday of the year!

I love blush...obsessed is the right word. This tint makes sure I look rosy and awake all day long.

A highlighter to help with the dewy look. I like this one but I am still on the look out for the perfect one.

I am very diligent about skin care so lucky I rarely need this to "hide a blemish" but it also make a great under eye concealer. Plus its cheap.

I have never found the perfect powder for myself yet but the MAC powders are great so at the moment I am using this.

Amazing drugstore bronzer, no orange or sparkle.

I think I wear foundation about twice a year, I love tinted moisturizer and I love this one from Smashbox.

This is my favourite blush EVER! I have been using it since high school and I have true millions of other blush and always come back to CoverGirl Classic Pink. If they ever discontinue it I will cry for years.

Shu Uemura, best curler on the planet. 'nough said.

I am always trying new mascaras but I love this one and have been using it for over a year now. Make my lashes look amazing.

My main pump up go tos. Not shown is my lipsticks: Russian Red and Rebel by MAC.

And they all live in this lovely make-up case given to me by one of my favourite people, Meredith Monroe. Who was on Dawson's Creek for years and is the nicest actor you could ever work with.

Now these are the product I love and am using at the moment, however....I am always into trying new products. Its is so much fun to test out a new colour or find a better powder. At the moment I am on the hunt for a primer and a new powder. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them!

3rd Worst Dressed City in the World!

Ok people we need to get it together! I know I am not the only one who read this article! I understand that we are a very active city, full of people who love to run, bike, climb, yoga, and much, much more, but can we not still have some style.

I had this conversation with a few people at work the other day, that because we are so active we crave comfort and fleece. I know for a fact that you can be active and stylish, they are not mutually exclusive. I love to go snowboarding, dance classes, yoga, hike mountains and climbs walls. I also love fashion! I even consider my work out gear to be stylist, that doesn't mean I wear it outside of the gym! I wear it where it is appropriate.

Where yoga belong.

I want to challenge the rest of you to do the same. I swear a great pair of dark jeans with some stretch are as comfortable as your yoga pants and about a million times more appropriate and stylish at the bar or walking down the street.

So come on Vancouver lets get out of the top ten and become more stylish. I mean we are one of the best places in the world to live...lets try looking like it too!

I love getting invited to things, any reason to dress up and I am there. I am known for being a little bit over dressed but I would much rather be over dressed then under dressed. I recently wore this outfit to a jewellery store opening at Oakridge Center. I ran home from work and only had about 30 minutes to get ready.

Lipstick: Rebel from MAC

I have been extremely busy with work the last few weeks and this morning I was exhausted! I throw this on and was out the door for a long walk with Rusty, the puggle. It is amazing how helpful a nice sunshine filled morning walk is at refreshing my mind and spirit. I love how it gets my day off to a good start. After my morning walk it was off for some more work but hey you gotta pay those bills.

Nine West

I recently bought a pair of Nine West shoes at a pop up shop on Main St and have been obsessed with the brand ever since. I had always thought that they only sold "old lady" shoes, wow was I wrong. I saw this pair from across the room and knew I had to have them. Good thing they were my size.

Now the reason I have become obsessed with the brand is not only is this pair beautiful, they are insanely comfortable! I couldn't believe it. So much built in padding, the heels isn't crazy high and even if the heel was high the ratios are all right making it comfortable to walk!

This weekend I went on a hunt to find the perfect pair of going out dancing shoes, that I would also be comfortable in. Well I found them and of course, NINE WEST! They are a beautiful pair of black wedge booties that would work with minis, dresses and skinny jeans. There was only one problem....the price: $195. I currently can not afford them but I found them at the Bay, all I have to do is wait for the right sale and those babies will be mine. Too bad because I could totally wear them out this weekend...hum

Every morning you have to get dress, right? Well yesterday morning I got dressed in this. No real reason behind it. Just felt like wearing a dress and looking polished.

I wore this to runs some errands, stop by my man's office, head into work and such. It is simple but pretty and most importantly I felt great in it. You should always feel great in what you are wearing, if you don't maybe its not the look for you and that is something that took me years to figure out. Now I listen to my gut. Trust me you'll feel great listening to your gut.

Almost forgot to mention that last night I did a photo shoot for one of the design students from Vancouver Community College. I can't wait to share the photos with you guys so stay tuned for those!

Yesterday morning while sitting around emailing, eating and all those other things I do before work I tossed on my man's tshirt that was sitting on the top of the pile of clean clothes on our kitchen table (don't judge...everyone hates folding and putting away clothes). When it came time to actually get dressed to leave the house I like how the shirt looked so I went with it.

Today I spent the day with my friend, Jen, on her bachelorette party. We got pedicures at Bling and then headed over to The Secret Garden Tea house in Kerrisdale for some afternoon tea. It was a great girls day out. Most importantly Jen was happy and that was all I could ask for. That and the fact that while in Kerrisdale, Jen and I stopped off at Queenie's consignment store. They were having a massive sale! Look what I got.

Now here is the best part: They were $8 bucks!! $8!! How awesome is that! I can't wait to wear them. I am picturing them now with shorts and a blouse for a summer night out and them in the fall with tights and many of my dresses. Man, I love a great deal!

In case you're wondering I got my toes painted in OPI "Lincoln Park in the Dark". Cute, right?

If you are looking for a new place to get your nails done at I seriously recommend Bling. They were great. The massage chairs were super comfortable and they let us have champagne while we were getting our toes done. They even host parties. How cool?

Two Fridays

I totally forgot to post the pictures of my outfit from last Friday so you are getting a double dose of Friday outfits.

Outfit one: Last Friday night my man and I had a bunch of our friends over to have margaritas. It was so much fun! After margaritas we headed over to Celebrities for a bit of dancing and then home to bed. This is what I wore during the day. Unfortunately I didn't get picture of my going dancing outfit....sad face.

Cool side note: This entire outfit is thrifted! I didn't even do that on purpose. I only figured it out when I got to work and a co-worker asked me where I got it!

I am always saying that inspiration can come from anywhere and it did. At Center of Gravity this weekend on of the girls we were with, Monica, was wearing what is the base of my outfit. I loved how the men's shirt went with the cut off jean shorts. As I was falling asleep last night I was trying to think how I could up it just a bit more for the city and for my style.

I piled on a couple necklaces, added a fedora, my pink wedges, and Hello Love!

Last night I decided that if it was bright and sunny today it would be time to wear this outfit. When Jen and I went though my closet and got rid of a lot of stuff she also helped plan a few outfits I would never have thought of. This is one of them. I would not have thought to wear this much bright together. I love color but I am a huge fan of grey, white and black. I would have paired this skirt with a white tank or black sweater, still will, but I love this look. How fun is this?

Sunshine City

This weekend my man and I headed up to Kelowna for the long weekend. It was hot and sunny! FINALLY! We had tickets for Center of Gravity, which is a music festival and sporting event. Volleyball, Basketball, Motorcross, Wakeboarding, Mountain Biking, and more.

First up we hit up a couple wineries on the day we arrived, Quail's Gate, Mt. Boucherie, and Little Straw Vineyards. It was a lot of fun to do a few tastings and find some new wines that we hadn't tried before. We even had a nice lunch at Little Straw Vineyard over looking the vineyards and the lake.

We stay in this little tent in our friend's uncle's yard. It was quite nice, they even have a pool and boats. SO much fun. We played a few games of bean bag with the family and it was a hit. Of course everyone was challenging everyone else.

On our way home we hit up one last winery, Mission Hill. They are a fancy, fort-like winery that make a lot of wines that restaurants serve, and the tasting was good! We then headed back on the road home to VanCity. It was a great weekend away, both fun and relaxing. Exactly what one wants from a mini vacation. Hope everyone had a great long weekend.

Summer time in the City!

First off sorry I've been MIA. I've been working and since its summer I've been busy living. Let's get caught up shall we?
So I wore this to work one day. That night after work we went out for drinks for a friend's birthday on Main St and I switch out the black pants for dark skinny jeans. I also switched out the booties for a higher more edgy heel.

One thing not everyone knows about me is that I am a make-up artist. I graduated from Blanche Macdonald here in Vancouver in 2001, in fact it is the reason I moved to Vancouver. I then worked on movies in Vancouver's busy film industry for 4 years before I decided to make a career change. Therefore playing with make-up is one of my true love. From now one I will be including make-up shots too. If you have any questions or want to see a look let me know!

So the above look was inspired/taken from Cameron Daiz's look in "Bad Teacher". I love a good red lip and in the movie she looks a bit like she slept in her make-up. So I "dirtyed" it up a bit. Smudged a bit of black khol liner around the eyes and a ton of black mascara. The hair however was all me. I love a braided bang!

Thursday of last week I attended the grand opening of a new vintage shop, Community, in Gastown. Ok so what you need to know about Community is 3 things:

1) All profits go to downtown eastside programs to benefit woman in the dtes. Good reason to shop if you ask me.

2) The goods are amazing and the prices are not expensive.

3) They let me bring our dog into the store and change room.

So I picked up this silk shirt at the grand opening and wore it to dinner at Zefferelli's with my man and some friends. If you haven't been to Zefferelli's go there. The pasta was amazing and the fun atmosphere was great to have a meal with my loud talkative friends. Its like having dinner with an Italian family, lots of pasta and wine.

A wine tour, some dark & stormy's on the Eldorado's patio, Centre of Gravity, brunch and SUN! I might even try to slip away to check out the vintage store I on of my favourite vintage dresses at. All the magazines are starting to show fall fashion and I love it! Looking forward to all the fall clothes is making it hard to dress for summer. Recently while reading Glamour I fell hard for a jean editorial spread. It had a different jean based outfit for everyday of the week. I love jeans, I would wear them everyday if I didn't also love dresses. I took one of the outfits and modified it for summer weather.

I love my country as much as I love my city! I also love any reason to dress up so here are my two Canada Outfits!

I wore this outfit during the day to take myself out to breakfast at this great place near our house, Save-on Meats. It used to be a butcher shop and now one side is an old school diner with home-style food and the other side is a great butcher shop. You should really check it out.

Today's outfit was taken from a small article in Lucky Magazine. The style question was "How do you dress up shorts?" Well right now in Vancouver it is grey almost everyday but it is warm and muggy. Dressing up shorts is exactly what I need to be doing.

When I first saw this outfit I loved it instantly. I don't really have any of these pieces but I knew I could make something work. This is what I came up with.

Lakeside Baby!

What a great weekend we had! We got home from our camping weekend last night and we were beat, even the dog. Still it was a great weekend spent visiting the family lakeside at Great Central Lake.

I didn't get to go wakeboarding but I did jump off the dock with my niece, who is 9, and let me tell you the water was freezing cold! The things Aunts will do for their nieces/nephew is crazy sometimes. Mostly we spent our time around the campfire chatting and having a great time. We even made smores!

The weather cooperated enough to not rain on us all weekend. Of course it was hot and sunny yesterday as we were getting ready to head back to the ferry and home. We did get in a boat ride to the other end of the lake, where you could see snow. I have been coming to this lake for a few years now with my family and there is not usually snow on the mountains at the end of June. I really hope July is hot and sunny everyday!

Its about campfires, good conversation, friends, family, puppies, fishing off the dock, long walks, smores, eating more than you should, and so much more. I don't have any outfit photos because I didn't take any. Maybe I should have but I was busy. Sorry guys!

This weekend my man and I are heading over to Vancouver Island to go camping with my folks at Great Central Lake. The weather is not looking great but I have my fingers crossed for sunshine! All I want to do is jump off the dock into the water at least once. On top of that things I am looking forward to for this weekend are:

-campfires! (mostly for roasting marshmallows)
-wakeboarding, I have been wakingboarding for a few years now and I quite enjoy it.
-riding bikes. My man is a super mountain biker, I plan to try to keep up.
-seeing my mom, we laugh a lot together.
-being away. I love my city and I love hustle and bustle but everyone needs some quiet sometimes.

Usually when I travel I am a terrible over packer but this time I have packed the smallest amount of items possible. I am after all going camping.

-one pair of shorts
-one pair of jeans
-2 tanks
-2 tees
-a long sleeve tee
-a sweater
-3 bathing suits
-a pair of flipflops
-pjs
-undies/bra

All tossed into the beautiful bag my man got me for my birthday. I think the reason I normally over pack is because I never know what I am going to want to wear or what we plan on doing. Camping takes out all the thoughts of "Maybe I need a pair of heels?" or "Do I need a fancy going out dress?". No one at a campsite thinks "She wore that same sweater last night." You're too busy eating snacks, playing game, drinks beers, and laughing. So here's to a weekend of non fashion, every fashionista needs one!

The Branch: Pop Up Shop

Awhile ago I wrote a post about how I was trying to over haul my closet. I had completed step one of getting rid of all the things that were worn out, I didn't wear or that I shouldn't wear. I had found some holes and I was trying to fill them. Thing is I am on a budget, I can't just go out and buy everything I need or want all at one time. So the refilling my closet has been slow going and slightly frustrating.

Yesterday I headed out to Main St Car Free day with the hopes of finding a new day dress. I have almost none and I really want some dresses to wear during the day, not just fancy dress up ones.

Luck would have it that I see this great dress on a bust form outside of a new pop up shop, The Branch. The dress was only $58 dollars which is totally in my budget range. I am willing to spend up to about $100 on dress because I read that you should be willing to spend the amount on a dress that is equal to the amount of a pair of pant and a top. It make sense since the dress covers your whole body.

I tried the dress on and it is love! It can be dressed up or down which is perfect for those summer days that lead straight into summer nights. Then I notice everything in the store is an extra 20% off because of Car Free Day. Bonus! And just when you think it can't get better it does! In the one corner of the store they have gently used items and I spot a pair of Nine West Heels that have clearly never been worn for $28 dollars, and the go perfectly with the dress. Whole outfit costs me $77 dollars.What a find!

Lets just say I'll be back there for sure! They will be at 3731 Main St till the end of summer so go check them out for yourself and maybe you will just as lucky as me!

Tonight Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals will be played in Vancouver and I am excited/nervous. As a long time fan of the Vancouver Canucks I just want them to win so bad! I don't know what this city will do if they lose which is actually a little scary since I live across the street from the arena.

So here we goes boys, bring home that cup so the whole city can breathe easy again!

Things that make me happy!

Last night my man's friend came over for dinner and some hang out time. Our apartment is finally together and it is great to have friends over for food and some drinks. My man cooked up some pork chops with a very tasty orange garlic sauce and sauteed spinach. There is nothing better than a man who loves food and can cook. Here are 5 other things that make me happy.

Fresh flowers in red. I love the color red and I find that I almost always buy red flowers. I rarely treat myself to flowers but once and a while they are nice to have around.

New magazines! I love opening my mailbox and getting a magazine. Its better than getting a bill and I love sinking into the couch and reading it from cover to cover.

The "raybans" my man got me when we were in Mexico. I want real ones just like these but I kill sunglasses so these are even better! Bonus every time I wear them I think about our fun trip!

Our Puggle, Rusty. How could face make you anything other than happy? Rusty is my man's dog and now that my man and I are living together it is my duty to walk this little man every morning. Something I quite enjoy.

I send a lot of time reading magazine, tearing out ideas from magazines, reading blogs and hunting for the perfect pieces for my closets. But the thing I love most is when I see something that inspires me to use things I already have. You know that "I have those pieces and I could do that" moment. This morning I put together an outfit fully inspire by a picture I saw of Sienna Miller in Instyle Magazine, using only pieces I already own.

I just got it and I think it is so chic and goes with almost everything.

Closet Edit

After moving in together with my Man I realized I would need to down size my wardrobe, more specifically the amount of clothes that I had. I moved from a small bachelor pad that had an amazing walk in closet to a small one bedroom that had a regular wall closet, that I would now be sharing! I have to admit I was scared and not looking forward to trying to tame my amount of clothes, at the time this was because I thought I LOVED every single piece. Well I was wrong! I called on my friend, Jen, of Your Everyday Stylist to lend me a hand. Let me make that step one.

All the stuff I removed from my wardrobe!

Step One: Do not try to do it alone.

I was already worried that this would be a stressful process and therefore knew doing it alone would only end with me in tears and nothing changed in my amount of clothing. Call on a friend, they can really help you to see that you never wear that pieces or that it is totally not you. Or call a professional like Jen, they are amazing at what they do.

Step Two: Be honest, brutally honest.

There were a few pieces in my wardrobe that I thought I loved and was just waiting to wear. Then I realized I never wore them because they made me feel gross or not like myself when I wore them. Be brutally honest with yourself, just because the piece is nice or in great shape does not mean it was meant for you to wear.

Step Three: Get it out of the house.

Once I had gotten all the stuff out of my closet I knew I needed it out of our apartment asap! I knew that if it sat there I would slowly take things out of the bags and put them back in the closet. Jen quickly took my stuff to be donated and consigned. This way I couldn't put it back in my closet where it would just take up space.

Step Four: Fill holes and build new outfits.

Jen and I quickly realized I had a few holes in my wardrobe that needed to be fill. I do not own a boyfriend blazer, a black leather jacket, a black "day" skirt, or a black clutch. I blame the fact that I have been working at a restaurant that requires my to wear all black for my lack of regular wear black items. Once we were finished the purging of my unwanted goods Jen also put together a few outfits for me with my remaining items, using things in ways I had not thought of. Its always good to get a new pair of eyes in there once and a while to refresh the items you love.

Step Five: ONLY BUY WHAT YOU LOVE!

I can not stress this one enough. Once you have gotten rid of all the old, the unwanted, and the bad don't refill your closet with a bunch of other junk you kinda like, refuse to buy something if you don't LOVE it and your wardrobe will be something you can;t wait to build outfits with every morning!

Now wish me luck cause I'm off to shop!

Dog Duty

I have given myself a new fashion challenge, dressing for the dog park! My man has the cutest puggle ever, and since I don't have to be up early for work morning walks have become my responsibility. I really enjoy them actually, it gets me up and out of the house first thing, plus I love the little guy. BUT want to still be fashionable I am refusing to be one of those girls at the dog park who has just thrown on a pair of sweats and a baseball hat. One: That is not who I am and I actually don't own either of those things. Two: Someone needs to up the stakes so who better than me. Here is what I wore one morning last week.

Mellow Yellow

I recently wrote a post about how I was struggling to figure out skirts. I love them but I never know what to pair them with. Right before I left for Mexico I made a quick stop into H&M and spotted this pretty little thing on a rack. I love the color and I was sure it would look great under the sun in Mexico. I was right! I love it would a white tank top and a tan but now that I am home I am not sure what to wear with it. My man and I have been home from our vacation to Mexico for over a week now and I thought I would share some of my favourite photos from the trip with you guys. I did try to get some outfit shots but to be honest I spent most of my time in a bikini. Good thing I pack 6 of them! It was a fun and relaxing trip and I loved it so much, I think my man was afraid I would never want to leave.

In the time we have been home since our trip my man started a new job and we moved from two apartments into one. We are in the middle of getting rid of stuff, including some clothes. My friend, Jen, will be helping me with that so look for upcoming new on that. I guess you could say this new chapter in my life is making me very happy and I can't wait to see what comes next.

I love skirts! Always have, even as a small child, mostly because I love to twirl but that is a totally different story. This is about the fact that I don't really have any in my wardrobe and that is because I never know what to wear them with. I have decided this is a problem I have to fix. After looking at many, many blogs and other blogger wearing skirts with ease I realized it can be that hard and I will be a skirt wearer again.

What I Wore

Step 1: Enlist the help of a friend, or style expert. My friend Jen and I went to Fashion School together and she is a full time skirt wearing, plus she is a professional wardrobe consultant. I have enlisted her to come to my place after I return from Mexico to help me look at the skirts I already have and make some outfits with shirts I already have. Step 2: Admit to myself that most of the problem is bigger than just skirts. Having just hit a milestone birthday I have notice a shift in my style. Not a huge one but just enough that a lot of the things I own I realize are not me and I will probably never wear again. I was packing for my trip away with my man and had tossed in a white denim skirt and a blue denim one and realized I don't even like them, so out they came and I now know I need a more swingy style of skirt. This has also happen with some shirts and dresses too. Oh no!

Step 3: Shop wisely! Think past the skirt when purchasing, do I have a shirt it will go with, how will I wear it, do I love it or am I just buying it to have a skirt. Question like this will stop me from making purchases I will regret or never wear. Also I might bring Jen along with me....

30, Moving and Mexico!

Sorry I have been missing in action. A lot has been going on in the last little bit that it seemed like I had no time for anything! I was getting up at 5:45am, going non stop till bed at 11:00pm. Lets just say I was not a happy camper. But I am through the storm and now am back to just my regular two jobs and it feels great. Finally sometime for me.

Recap: I had a very exciting 30 birthday! It was a ton of fun. My best birthday yet! My loving man got me the weekend bag that I was dying to have and it is even better in real life. I even had a costume change at my party, one dress for dinner and one dress for dancing! Thank you to everyone who came out and made my night so perfect and fun.

Next up my man and I decided to move in together and have found an apartment. We move in May 1st and have already started trying to find all the perfect pieces to make our home together. If anyone know where I can get mirrored bedside table in Vancouver please let me know! Expect a few post about furniture to follow!

And finally I am going on my first adult vacation, just me and my man and MEXICO!! I have never been and I am incredible excited! We are going to Puerto Vallarta for 7 days of sun and fun. I'll post a ton of picture of my beach fashions when I return. I can not wait to just relax and think about nothing! And yes, that is a swim up bar in the middle of the resort pool. I will be spending some time there for sure.

My birthday is coming up fast, in 25 days to be exact and its a big one! Some of these things are a bit crazy but its a wish list right? So here is my birthday wish list:

A new dress form, in classy white. I want to use it for decoration/practical. In white its not ugly.

Everybody loves gift certificates for places they want to shop. Plus its guilt free shopping!

Money for shopping. I love to vintage shop and having some extra cash for just that would be great!

This one is a little bit personal. I would love a tattoo of a tiny ladybug. It has a lot of sentimental value to me and is something I have been thinking of getting since I was about 16.

I have tons of other things I want or need for my birthday but these are just a few of the more wanted items. I will love anything anyone gets me, my friends and family know me so well they are usually spot on with fantastic gifts. This is just a few ideas to get the juices flowing!

Long Days and even Longer Nights.

Some days I know I am going to be running from one thing straight into the next. Yesterday was definitely one of those days! I worked 9 hours at Le Chateau and then headed straight to J Lounge on Davie for a fundraiser. My friend, Duncan, is in a play which I have been told I will be seeing so I suggest you all go see it too. Its call "5 Women wearing the same dress". Starts in March.

After that I met up with my friends, Stanly and Justine, at Numbers where we rocked the Karaoke. Man, I love Karaoke! Well this outfit worked well for everything.

Yesterday it was sunny but so cold. In fact it was supposed to snow in the afternoon but thankfully didn't. Don't get me wrong I love snow but I have reached the point where I just don't want to be cold anymore. So I pulled out my warmest, most fun coat and said let's tango winter. The Perfect Weekender

This weekend was crazy busy, full of work and fun times. Most importantly it was full of SUN! Was anyone else super shocked that it was snowing this morning in downtown? I know I was after the weekend of sun that we had. I rode the seawall of Saturday! No picture of outfits from the weekend though. One there was nothing special to take a photo of and two I was busy!

Here is what I wore a couple days again to meet with someone who could give me some advice on how to advance my fashion career. I was a bit nervous but he totally put me at ease, and then tore my resume apart. Guess it is back to the drawing board!

Like a kid on parent/teacher night....

Last night I met my man's parents...for the first time! I was super nervous! I am never normally nervous meeting someone's parents, they generally like me. This time however I was. So imagine me trying to get ready. I must of tried on 20 different outfits. I still wanted to look like myself but not go over the fashion top. Especially for dinner at their house. Snow White and the 5 things.....

Today I felt a little bit like a modern day Snow White. It was probably because I am extra pale right now from the lack of sunshine in my rainy city. Don't get me wrong, I love Vancouver but sometimes the lack of sun really gets to me. On top of being pale, I was rocking the red lipstick and have dark brown locks. You can always disagree with me but its how I felt.

As it was a long day at work I decided to focus on 5 things that made me very happy today.

1) Red Lipstick: Always makes me smile and as you can see I wear it a lot. This is the only color of red I wear and I doubt I will ever change. MAC Russian Red.

2) A pint of ice cold beer in my favourite pint glass that I bought on a wicked girl's weekend to Seattle with one of my best girls, Ali. What a great trip and such a great glass.

3) New magazines arriving in the mail. Grab ice cold beer, new magazine, seat and relax. Best to not disturb.

4) The new hat I got today from my work for $4.00! How can you go wrong!? You can't.

5) The amazing Valentine's Day card I got yesterday from my man. He wrote something very awesome and fairly romantic inside and that is what every girl want!

Now I am off to Trivia with my friends, which I guess is number 6 of things that made me happy today!

I LOVE VALENTINE'S DAY! I know, I know, you think of course you do, you are a girl. Honestly I love all little holidays, St Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, all of them! Now back to why I love Valentine's Day. I am a hopeless romantic. I love the flowers, the cards, the candy hearts, the cinnamon hearts, wearing pink or wearing red, ALL OF IT. I know that I have been saying that this is the year to fill in the "holes" in my closet but with Valentine's Day just around the corner and the prospect of a new love interest, my mind has turn to all things red. Yes, I am addicted to red. It is my favourite colour, I'm wearing it right now as I write this post. I wear Russian Red lipstick by MAC at least twice a week.

I just bought the most fabulous red shoes from Aldo. They scream pinup girl all the way. I can wait to wear them. But to where? And with what?

I have always want is a little red dress. Now I want one for Valentine's Day. And I think my friend Jen may have found me the perfect one.

I would wear this dress all the time. I love the longer sleeves and the cute doll waist line. It would totally flattering on my body type and I could wear it day or night, depending on how I styled it. It is from Zara, made of Viscose and Wool and only $115 bucks. Not bad at all for a dress I know I would wear at least once a week. Now I just have to go in and try it on.

Then after that it'll be back to filling those "holes". Right?

Eyebrows

Ok ladies, let talk facial hair. No, not the super crazy kind that dudes have, but the kind we have. Eyebrows! I just got back from having mine threaded and I am telling you its the best way to go. For a couple reasons:

1) It is cheap. Seriously if you are paying more than roughly $10 bucks to get your eyebrows done, your paying too much. I get my done at Maximus Salon on Davie St at Bute St. Mostly because it is 2 blocks from my apartment, but also she is good!

2) It hurts WAAAYY less than waxing. I am serious here, I almost fell asleep while she was doing. There is no way that is happening with waxing.

3) It is less aging on your skin than waxing. With waxing there is a lot of pulling and tugging at the delicate skin on your face. That is not good for aging. Threading doesn't pull at your skin so your saving your face from a lot of premature aging. Bonus!

4) Now this is less talked about but if you have a few upper lip hairs, dark or light, peach fuzz or more, they can thread that off too. Same bonuses apply, less pain, cheap, and no tugging.

5) There is still a little redness after like with waxing, but it is very light, so minimal and no swelling. So you can get it done and be out in public no problem.

Resolutions

Still being cameraless I thought I would share with you my resolutions. I asked around at my work and almost none of the other girls made any. Did you? I thought I had made quite a few till I realized they could all be made into one. "Put me first" not a bad resolution I think. But let me break it down for you.

1) Go on a vacation: I haven't been on a real vacation in roughly 7 years. I think its time. So far I am thinking Vegas for my birthday in March.

2) Take care of my body better: Eat healthier, get some exercise, don't stress out(brain health). I know everyone says these ones at the start of a new year but I am thinking less drastically. Eat healthier simply means less processed junk. I am a bit of a workaholic these days so it means less eating junk on the run. Get some exercise simply means moving my body. I sign up for a dance class that starts tomorrow. I'm very excited for that. Stress less simply means let go of the little things. Like feeling guilty for something that you need not.

3) Fill the holes in my wardrobe: I think I will have less buyers remorse and more outfits it I fill the holes I have in the basic I have in my wardrobe. Simple as that.

4) Do the things I love and don't do the things I don't: Now that doesn't mean that if your best friend is having a melt down and wants to go see a movie you would rather never see that you don't go. You go but it means that if it come down to a decision you can simple say no thanks. How easy is that?

5) Keep my money in check: Now this one is to help with all the above. No random spending of randomness. I want to go on a trip so that means I will have to say so keep my money in check. I think that one is fairly straight forward.

And last but not least,
6)Finish what you start or wrap up loose ends: Sometimes I am a procrastinator. I don't like it, it just happens. But then I feel stressed or guilty. So this year I am wrapping up all old loose ends and finishing whatever I start so there will be no new loose ends to wrap up.

All in all I think a good set of goals.

Now we'll see if I can actually make them happen......

Happy New Year everyone! Hope its been a good year for everyone so far. I want to say sorry for not updating in a while, one the holidays took over my life and second I have left my camera at my parents house on Vancouver Island! I am lost without it. I will do my best to post something, not outfit posts, until I have it back.

Now this post has nothing to do with fashion. Does anyone out there own a crock pot? I am trying to eat at home more, not just because it is a new year but because you can save a lot of money. I'm thinking of getting a crock pot, being a single person means I don't really want to create big elaborate meals for one. I think coming home to already cooked food, and a great smelling apartment sounds great. Plus I am super busy so sometimes I need to eat and go. No time to cook a full meal. I am doing some looking around and it seems that the small ones will work for a family of one. Plus my kitchen is the same size as my closet so smaller is always better. So does anyone have a small one they love? Or a recipe that I should try? I love food and I need to get better at producing it for myself and not always eating out.

I really want a red one since most of my kitchen stuff is red...its my kitchen theme. Maybe even this one, if I can find it anywhere.

The other kitchen appliance I have been lacking is a blender. Lucky for me my friend Alex never uses his so now it has found a new home at my place. Its black but you can't be picky when its free and a good brand. First thing I did was go out and buy frozen berries and yogurt. In fact tomorrow morning I'm making smoothies! Yum!

I wanted a faux fur vest all season but couldn't really find one that I loved and was also in my price range. I have made a promise to myself to not buy anything I don't LOVE and that doesn't go with at least five things that I already own. It has been a really helpful way to not spend money on things I don't actually want or will use. It has also cause me to realize I have a bunch of gaps in my wardrobe. Can you believe I don't own a LBD? My friend Jen says it is because I am not a little black dress person. She is probably right as I own a ton of dresses, all in bright colours or fun patterns. But I do feel that something you should own.

Job Well Done

Big news in the "Girl" world! I got a new job! I am officially the Menswear Specialist for Le Chateau at the Pacific Centre location. I am very excited to start a new job in the field I just graduated school from. Last time when I graduated make-up school it took me a very long time to find a job even close to my schooling. I wanted to work doing something with make-up so bad but knew no one in the city, had no connection or real experience getting a "real" job. This time I started looking even before I finished school. I put out the feelers, and let everyone I know, know that I was looking for work and anyone who may know anything about clothes and fashion the heads up that I was looking for work. Bam, it worked.

I have been very busy and I have been neglecting my blog. I am sorry, I will work harder on that starting now. The great Christmas Season is upon on us and I have a ton of parties coming up so expect so festive outfit posts to come.

Here is a quick update of what I have been up to:

Thats right, I am finished. I graduated from Fashion Merchandising at Vancouver Community College.

My proud parents even came over from the island for the ceremony, and stayed for the party I had with my friends. It was a lot of fun to have them there.

As a gift my friend Uldis got me a pair of hockey tickets for the Canucks games on Sunday, November 21. It was hard to choose who to take, Uldis told me to take someone. I ended up taking my friend, Brittney, it was her first game ever. We showed up wearing matching jersey and we had a great time!

Other that that I went to a couple job interviews, got covered in snow, tried to stay warm, and having been working A LOT! Hope your winter is fun so far. Now bring on the eggnog!!

Fashion Royalty

Last Tuesday I got the chance to meet someone I have watched, admired, and wanted to be for years. Yes my friends, I met Jeanne Beker! The host of Fashion Television, who has been the only host for 25 years! She is fabulous! I read her autobiography this summer while hitting up the beach, so when my invite to meet her at the Bay came I jumped on it. She was just as fabulous in person.

First talking about her new collection, which she did not design but edited. I love that she was the first to say that, she isn't a designer and it was refreshing to hear someone admit what they are. Jeanne then went into a questions and answer period. Answering question after question and all with honest answers, that were not just a push for people to buy, buy, buy.

Jeanne then got comfortable at a booth for a meet and greet. She was signing things and getting her picture taken with people for a good hour or more. I was impressed. This was not something she had too do, especially knowing she had been at The Bay since 8am, a 12 hour shift.

I waited in the line with my friend, Jen and both of us had our pictures taken with Jeanne and I got her to sign the autobiography. She laughed, couldn't believe I had that one. (Its about 10 years old.) Then told me to be on the look out for the new one coming in February. I told her to come back for a book tour. (I can be such a dork.) After looking at all the clothes in her collection, smartly called Edit, it was off to Trivia. It was a Tuesday after all.

Full Fashion Sunday

This Sunday was amazing and fashion filled. For most of the morning I hung out in my bed watching "Project Runway", season 8 and reading the newest Vogue with Anne Hathaway on the cover. Then I got all dolled up and headed over to the Hollywood Theatre in Kitsilano to watch Casablanca on the big screen. I had never seen it before which my friends think is crazy. A friend from work who loves the movie got all dressed up to see it with me. I had a great time talking fashion, movies, and such. If you have never been to the Hollywood Theatre you really should, its is beautiful and one of the oldest movie theatres in Canada.

After the movie, which I loved, I headed back downtown to the Orpheum to watch She and Him. They are a great band. Zooey Deschanel is so adorable and wears the cutest dresses, I would love to raid her closet! She also has a large voice for such a small person, a great set of pipes. Their opening band was also very talented, with great pipes. The Orpheum is also a beautiful venue one of my favourite places in the whole city.

I had thought I would change in between the movie and the concert but I love this dress so much that I just kept it on for the concert. It might have been a bit fancy, but I got a lot of nice complements on it which is always so nice to hear.

Last Sunday I woke up early and trekked my ass over to Jericho Beach to cheer my friend, Speed, across the finish line of her first event run. 10km in 57mins, super impressive, especially to me who can not run! I try, I swear but my lungs have other ideas. I even wish I could run, I think it would be a great way to clear ones head. So anyone who can run a lot is super human in my mind. I didn't mind getting up early either, the city is so pretty and quiet at 8:30am on a Sunday. I grabbed a coffee and jumped on the bus over to the finish line. So many people in pink, I failed to mention it was a Diva run. Afterwards we headed to Hamburger Mary's for a post run breakfast. Man, that place has great diner food. Here is what I wore:

Friend Filled Thursday

Yesterday didn't seems like it was going to be anything big. Simply a lazy morning followed by a walk to work. After work I enjoy a couple beers at the bar with my friend Luke. We have joked about splitting an on special Heineken in 2 glasses for about 6 months now, and we both wussed out and couldn't even ask the bartender for one. After drinks I did a little swing through H&M, who is having some great sales right now. Dinner with Alex at Red Robin's, he had a couple for free onion rings and I refuse to pass up free food. Then some late night girl talk with my friend, Brittany at her place. I think she was just buttering me up with candy so I would watch her cat this weekend, it worked! All in all a nice night of friends.

I bought these shoe about 3 summers ago, thinking I love these shoes but what will I wear them with. I wear them with everything, they are my go to shoe. They work with dresses, skirts, pants, everything! Thankfully I have an amazing shoe guy who is constantly telling me to take more cabs. I get every pair of shoes fixed by him and I recommend him to everyone. Mr. Kim thank you for keeping my favourite shoes alive! Your the best! (You can find him in the Royal Center at Burrard and Georgia, Shoe Doc and Key, Bottom Level, near skytrain)

White Space and Lobster

My Tuesday night this week was quite busy. First off I was invited to the White Space Gala at The Bay Vancouver Downtown, which I went to with my friend, Jen. I once worked for the line "Pink Tartan" at this Bay was excited to see how the second floor had been transformed into the White Space. Well it was beautiful! If you haven't checked it out yet you must! There was wine and cocktails, appetizers and prizes. The buyers for The Bay have brought in quite a few new lines, See by Cloe, Adam, Free People, and many many more. The designer for Adam was even at the event at answer some questions asked by FASHION's Vancouver Editor Rebecca Tay. All in all it was a great fashion event to attend. Plus it was fun to catch up with some of my old co-workers. I got quite a few compliments on my shoes, something I always love. I also fell in love with a pair of shoes in The Bay's amazing shoe department.

This beautiful pair of Sam Edelman's will be mine....if they can find them in my size!

I also put a jacket on hold but I'm not sure I am fully in love with it, and at the beginning of the year I made a resolution to only buy things I'm in love with so will see how that turns out.

After the White Space Gala, I headed over to my usually Tuesday night event, Trivia Night at Relish Gastropub & Bar. I don't think I have expressed my love for this bar enough on here. I love it!! To put it into pop culture terms Relish is my "How I Met Your Mother"/"Cheers" bar. Yes, everyone there knows my name and makes me full like a superstar when I walk in the door. Plus they have a different Canadian beer for $3 everyday! Its like they can read my mine! This Tuesday was a little different, it was also Alexander Keith's birthday, so you could get a one pound lobster and a pint of Keith's for $20, that is cheap! Therefore Relish was packed, good thing I had a table to join or I would have been trying to eat my lobster standing up. Not something I think could even be done. We didn't win trivia but we did get to keep the mugs our beer came in, pretty cool. All in all a fun filled night.

Every Fall I make a list of my wants for the season, usually it has a few basic, a few replacement items and then some trends that I can't wait to wear. This year the one trend that I want so bad is the Faux Fur Vest. I searched for one on the weekend but keep thinking a better one would be just around the corner. I think I may have found the perfect one at Front and Company on Main St. Guess I'll be crossing a bridge again this weekend. What's one of your Fall must haves?

So after writing my post about what I would wear to brunch my friends invited me over to their place for brunch, complete with mimosa. I can never turn down free food, and what the perfect chance to actually wear my brunch outfit. True when I got to their place, a whole block from my place, they were still in their pjs, but not the point!

I got to eat a delicious brunch of scrambles eggs, bacon, toast, fresh watermelon, tons of coffee and a couple wicked mimosas! Funny thing is my friends just moved into their place and their oven/stove is not working, so the whole meal was made with the new bbq they just got. Almost like camping! Thanks guys, it was a great morning and I had a lot of fun. Your place is really coming together.

I wanted to posted up my outfit so bad yesterday only I didn't really have one to post. You see first thing in the morning I just threw on some clothing to meet a friend for breakfast. The place we were going for breakfast is about 2 blocks from my apartment. Normally I would still take the time and get ready but I was starving. Plus I would only have to get ready all over again in a few hours for work. So no picture from that. Then it was off to work in my all black uniform of a pencil skirt and blouse. Its not that I don't like my uniform but it is just that a uniform. So again no picture. The next thing I know it is 10 o'clock at night and I am having one beer with another friend, then its off to bed. I made it through a whole day without really getting dressed. Does this happen to anyone else?

Here is what I would put together for brunch. In fact some friends of mine just invited me over for breakfast, I think my outfit is already planned for me. I'm off for some bacon and eggs.

I am trying to post at least once a day for the whole month of September, to get myself back into daily outfit photos. Yesterday was a busy day so here is the post from last night, look for another post with today's outfit to follow later.

I needed a day to night outfit, that didn't need any huge change to make it night. I got this dress at Zara a few years ago and I love it. Not too short for day but not to long to look out of place at night. I had work in the morning, then a fitting for the Vancouver Community College's graduation fashion show, then off to my friend, Matt's, birthday party. I think I pulled together a great look that worked for all three. Only one small problem, the shoes! By the time I got home at midnight my feet were not happy campers at all. Even a full cut on one foot. Guess I'll know better for next time!

Last Saturday I was planning on a night out on the town, so I was thinking what to wear? Well here is "Judy" wearing my idea of what to wear. My plans ending up changing so I am still saving it for another night out. I like to keep "Judy" dressed when I am not using her to sew. I think she likes it better that way, and I know I am not the only blogger/fashionista out there that feels that way. Now where to take this outfit?

I was looking through my camera this morning when I saw a set of photos I had taken but not posted yet. I'm not sure when I wore this or to where but I love these pants! I bought these jeans over 5 years ago at Saan on a trip where I had ripped my jeans and needed something to wear. They turned out to be quite amazing and they only cost me $20. This spring I saw a picture of a pair of jeans with a studded pocket, I wanted them so bad. Instead I grabbed my old faithfuls and did a little DIY. A few rips here and there and a studded pockets updated my $20 jeans to something that people notice. You should try it!

The Hunt Is On.

I have been traveling a lot this summer, not the glamorous flying all over the world kind, but one that is actually much more enjoyable for my heart. I have been driving back and forth to the Okanagan a couple times a month. You see My Man got a great job in Kelowna so I am spending as much time there as possible. After the last trip up I realized my weekend bag needs to be replaced. The one I currently have I got for $20 in a street market in Hong Kong about 6 years ago. Its a faux Prada duffel bag. Being that it is a cheap knock off the faux leather has not turned all nice and buttery over the years of use, instead it is cracking and starting to fall to pieces. Now the problem is I do not just want to run out and buy any random replacement. It has to be stylish, not overly expensive, and fit all I might need for a long weekend. I want it to go with everything, not be black, no pattern or such, have some inside pockets, and maybe an outside pocket (cellphone, passport, etc). I want it to get better with age. I don't want it to be "precious", I need to be able to put it on the ground, or toss it in the trunk, or on a plane without worrying that it will get dirty or wrecked. I have start the search in magazine and online. I have even put together an inspiration board to keep me on track. Does anyone have a great weekend bag that they love? How big do you think it should be? A place I should look for one? Any suggests or helpful hints would be great!

This one that I saw in Lucky Magazine is the best one I have seen yet, but not being able to see it in person makes it hard for me to buy. I like to touch and play with the things I buy before just to make sure they are exactly what I am looking for.

I need your help! Suggestions?

Last night before heading off to bed I did a check of all the blogs I love. I always find it fun to look for inspiration for ways to wear clothes I already have. I came across this picture on The Sartorialist, and instant thought "I can do that". I looked through my closet and came up with my version of it. I just love how laid back it is even though she is put together and wearing heels. Not so impressed with his smoking, but to each their own. Where do you look for inspiration?

Lately I have been complaining that I do not have enough "day" dresses. I have a lot of dresses but I feel like most of them are for night, out dancing or dinner, anything a little more fancy. Well I had totally forgotten about this dress I bought last summer. I wore it once and the zipper broke. I took it to my dry cleaner and he fixed the zipper, and voila!, day dress. Plus its red, my favourite colour!

Summer Wind

The summer wind was blowing mighty strong today. I did not realize this as I left my place in this floaty dress. Lucky I didn't have a Marilyn moment. I have worn a dress every day since last Monday. I trying to see how many days straight I can wear a dress. Some of them I never got a picture of, I have to try more to get an outfit shot everyday. Look for tomorrow's dress, I'm thinking red!
